Here are several mission opportunities that our Rocky Creek Family should carefully consider participating with during the next few months.
July 10-15 (Date is still being confirmed)
This team is open to men and women; minimum age is 14 (parent must accompany anyone under 18 years). The team will be working through the South Carolina Baptist State Convention and RebuildSC and will be working in the Nichols, SC area. We will be assigned to a house that has been damaged during flooding from Hurricane Matthew last year. The house should have all of the damaged areas removed and ready for rebuilding, but that may or may not be fully done. During the time we are there, we will be working to replace sheetrock, flooring, roofing, or whatever the house needs. RebuildSC will supply tools, supplies and some supervision.
As we work on the house, we will also work on building a relationship with the family who has been put out of the house as well as the neighbors to help them understand the God who allowed the damage and Who sent the team to make repairs.
The costs for this trip will include food. Lodging will be either at a local church or possibly at a local home. You do NOT have to be a skilled construction person, but you must be willing to work hard and follow instructions. Background checks will be done on each person on the team.
August 8-15 (Date is still being finalized)
Pastor Lierte Soares Junior is the pastor of Framingham Baptist Church in Massachusetts, as well as the Pastor of Precision Valley Baptist Church in North Springfield, Vermont. Both churches need work in their facilities, but August 8-15, Rocky Creek will send a team to help paint the sanctuary at the building in Framingham.
The costs for this trip will include lodging, food and transportation. We will drive the 14 hours in the church mini-bus, we will stay at the Luther Rice Lodge which is very near Framingham. You do NOT have to be a skilled painter, but you must be willing to work hard and follow instructions. This team is open to men and women; minimum age is 14 (parent must accompany anyone under 18 years). Background checks will be done on each person on the team.
The Greenville Baptist Association has several events planned to help GBA churches like Rocky Creek to help share access to the Gospel in the Greenville area.
3.1- #Pray Greenville — On Saturday, July 29, the GBA wants to organize churches to pray over every part of our county. We will be organizing our church family to pray over their area of Greenville County.
3.2 – Total Eclipse of the Heart – Greenville is in the direct path of a total solar eclipse that will happen on Monday, August 21. The GBA will sponsor viewing events. We are inviting our churches to partner with us as we share the good news of Jesus Christ during this incredible nature event that we won’t experience again for another 7 years. Rocky Creek will be able to participate at Legacy Park.
3.3 – Blue in the Zoo — On Saturday, September 16, the GBA will host the third annual, Blue In The Zoo. This is a great opportunity to express our love and appreciation to law enforcement personnel and their families. Rocky Creek will host a station inside the zoo during the event. Pray for the volunteers that will make this event a success. And, most importantly pray for the law enforcement personnel and their families will be shown the love of Christ
