Matthew 26:6-16 for Gospel Groups September 3-9

Read the passages this week and think about these questions Matthew 26:6-16 Mark 14:3-9 John 12:1-11   What do you learn about the various people in the passages? What do you learn about Jesus from the passages? Do you generously give and serve Jesus or are you greedy? How have you worshipped and loved Jesus recently by serving the poor?

Psalm 42 – August 27

Read the passages this week and think about these questions Psalm 42 Psalm 43   Have you ever felt dejected, downcast, or a little depressed because life seems unfair? Psalm 141 – August 20

Read the passage this week and think about these questions Psalm 141   How much time have I spent lately calling on the Lord? Do my prayers express a dependency and urgency for God to act in my life? Why should we pray and ask God to guard our mouths? How are others helping you avoid temptation? What is your primary focus in life? Why is this important?

Book Review – Overcome

This summer the student ministry at Rocky Creek attended Clayton King’s Crossroads Camp at Anderson University. Two of my children attended, and they had a good week learning much biblical truth.  Maggie Ruth, my 12 year old, encouraged me by bringing me a present from camp – the book Overcome.   In this book Clatyon King challenges the reader to “[replace] the lies that hold us down with the truths that set us free.” While I can’t share everything I learned from the book…

Let’s get the Word into our lives.  We start a 100 Day Bible Reading Plan on August 20. “[Reading] Scripture leads to spiritual growth. A previous LifeWay Research study found reading the Bible is the number…

New Gospel Groups Starting

With the beginning of the new church year, we will start using the Gospel Project curriculum from LifeWay in all our Gospel Groups.  If you are wondering what a Gospel Group is, I encourage you to check out the post that Travis has written about them.   A Gospel Group is a group smaller than a group in a worship service that gathers together for the purpose of discipleship. Starting on Sunday, September 3, Gospel Groups will continue at 9:00am and 10:30am.  At…

Compared to God’s Word, are you a great sinner? It is important to acknowledge sin, but why are we so reluctant to confess our sin at times? What words does David use for sin? What does He ask God to do about his sin? After receiving God’s forgiveness, what should…

What did the psalmist do with his life and what should we do with our life? Regardless of the situation or circumstance, are you prepared to praise the Lord? How do verses 3-4 in Psalm 146 contrast to verses 1-2? Why can we look to God for help and hope? Are…

Psalm 136 – July 23

Read the passages this week and think about these questions Psalm 136 Psalm 135 Deuteronomy 26:1-11   In a quick glance at Psalm 136, what sticks out? Why do you think the psalmist repeats the phrase, “for his steadfast love endures forever”? List 4 ways that you know God loves you. What does giving thanks reveal? Why is it so important? For what can you give thanks? What were the Israelites to remember and give thanks for? How is Psalm…
