Senegal Mission Trip – March 2018

In September, 2016, Alton and David sat on the front porch of a man we will call “Adam” with his friend “Abdou”, in a village in Senegal, Africa.  “Adam” had asked us for a French Bible and we were finally able to deliver one to him.  As we sat and discussed the Gospel of John, both men seemed eager to listen and understand.  When we left them, we challenged “Adam” to read the Gospel of John, and then to discuss…

A woman who received assistance to be able to live, AND a stronger focus on Who to live for. A young lady who is investing heavily in students, many of who are basically “anti-christian”, but are hearing about the love of our Savior. A youth group that has outgrown the apartment where they meet but they still…

The Bible in 271 Words

We are at Day 51 of our 100-Day Word Bible reading plan!  As we begin through the New Testament, I thought it would be wise to remember where we have been and what we are anticipating.  In the second sermon of this series, I preached a summary of the scriptural narrative to help give us context to what we were studying. I have preached through the narrative of the Bible in different ways in the past.  For “The Word” series…

His Mercy is More

We all walk in God’s mercy everyday. There are days that we forget how merciful God is toward us. Here is a new hymn we started singing in our services yesterday that helps us remember how merciful God is toward His people. Song Video   Lyric Video

Luke 24:13-35 for Gospel Groups October 15-21

Read the passages this week and think about these questions Luke 24:13-35   Have you ever faced a time of confusion, distress, or sorrow? Have you ever know Jesus’ presence during a time like this? What else do these verses teach us about Jesus? Is the Old Testament still relevant for believers today? What are some ways the OT points to Jesus? Are you praying that the Holy Spirit would open up the Word of God to you? With whom…

Interpreting the Law

In our study of Hermeneutics, we come to one of the most difficult sections of Scripture to interpret – the Law. Oftentimes, New Testament believers go too far in relation to the Law – either by expressing strict obedience to all types or by ignoring the commandments altogether as not applying to us.  We must find a healthy balance when it comes to interpreting this wonderful section of Scripture. The Word Reading Plan [Week 8]

The Word Bible reading plan is a chronological 100-day guide that focuses on 50 pivotal Old Testament readings and 50 pivotal New Testament readings.  As we go through “The Word” series, our Sunday sermons will focus on the passage for that day.  During the week, our church will be reading through the rest of the passages to gain a fuller understanding of the grand narrative of Scripture. In addition, we have a Bible study for adults and students on Wednesdays…

Don’t Believe These Parenting Myths

Being a parent is hard work.  It takes a lot of time, knowledge, wisdom, patience, money, and so much more.  However, it is worth it because, “children are a gift from the Lord” (Psalm 127:3). God wants us to treasure these gifts and point them to the Gift-giver, God.  God desires that our children know Him and walk in His ways, but there is an enemy who wants to discourage and frustrate us in our teaching and training in godliness. In…

What Jesus Said About Children

The four gospels contain the life and ministry of Jesus the Christ.  Within three years of organized ministry before his death and resurrection, he preached many sermons and shared many parables.  In a time before podcasts and YouTube, his teachings have endured due to the life-changing paradigm with which he spoke. In all that he taught, Jesus also deemed it necessary to speak about children. He spoke of children five times in his recorded ministry.  Understanding what Christ thinks about…

Matthew 28:1-15 for Gospel Groups October 8-14

Read the passages this week and think about these questions Matthew 28:1-15 Mark 16:1-11 Luke 24:1-11 John 20:1-18   If you were one of those who followed Jesus what are you thinking about since His death? Have you ever been somewhere and experienced something totally unexpected? What do you think the two Mary’s were feeling as they approached the tomb of Jesus? What would have been the results if Jesus remained in the tomb?        When did you meet Jesus and…

February: Website – The staff did a…
