VBS 2018 Recap

What an incredible week of Vacation Bible School!  Over 130 children and 8 of them received the gospel!  We raised over $4000 for a missions offering to help translate 17% of the Gospel of Mark for the Hunsrik People of Brazil.  Way to get in the game, kids! Love Your Neighbor

Jesus told us in Mark 12 that we should “love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength (and) ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’”  That is easy to say, but not always seemingly easy to do.  Sometimes we really just want to pull into the garage, close the door, go inside and shut out the world.  But when we sit down and read God’s Word, we are constantly…

June Missions Prayer Newsletter

Several of our Mission Partners serve in areas with a large population of Muslim people.  The annual fast for Muslim people is called Ramadan, and is currently going on.  During this time (May 15 – June 14) a good Muslim will fast from food and drink from sunrise to sunset.  In this issue of the Missions Prayer Newsletter, several different partners make comments about how Ramadan affect their ministry.  Please be in prayer for them. Pray also for: Pray for…

GO Teams for the Summer of 2018

This summer, our church family will once again seek to GO and serve during our Wednesday evenings.  We will start on June 27 by meeting in the Fellowship Hall at 6:30 to pray and prepared.  Then on July 11 we will spend 5 Wednesday evenings, until August 8, going and serving in various ways. Some of these options are limited to rather specific skill sets, and some are pretty much open to anyone and any age.  If you are not…

Graduate Milestones

It is graduation time! It’s a time to honor, celebrate, and reflect on your child’s successes. It is your child’s time to shine. They have completed a milestone for sure. They have worked hard, made grades, finished projects, played on multiple sports teams, served on academic clubs, been a part of school activities, and have made a ton of memories and experiences. Many of those experiences have taught them lessons, many they cherish and some they wish not to repeat.…

May Parenting Principle #5

Principle: If you are not resting as a parent in your identity in Christ, you will look for identity in your children.  Sometimes we may not think about it, but as Paul Tripp says, we “do it every single day.”  He further says, “Your parenting is always shaped by where you look for identity.” Our parenting will reveal where we find our identity. This post will highlight some of the struggles that we as parents go through as we seek…

Miracles and Missions Family Mission Trip Recap

The best way for children to learn to minister to others is by watching their parents minister to others. Our Rocky Creek children’s families joined with our Miracle Hill Ministries missions partner in ministering to the upstate the week of April 4-8. Projects included working with the Miracle Hill Boy’s Home as we helped with outside spring work projects, working with the Miracle Hill Children’s Home as we hosted one-day Vacation Bible School opportunities complete with crafts and recreation, and…

April Parenting Principle #4

Principle: Recognizing what you are unable to do is essential to good parenting. Many parents have been there before. Your child is acting up in the grocery store, and you feel the embarrassment of blood rush to your face. In an act of discipline and punishment, you either grab or yell at your child, probably not softly but maybe even harsh and angry. You retreat to thoughts of punishment, better discipline, and better parenting because we have to help them…
