SING….The radical witness when congregations…. Sing!

The radical witness when congregations…. sing! Psalm 66:2 Sing the glory of his name; make his praise glorious. Glorious worship is exuberant, never half-hearted. It is attractive, not off-putting. It is awesome, never sentimental. It is brilliant not careless. It point to God, not to the speaker….. There is nothing more evangelistic, nothing that will win the world more than glorious worship. [The Song Jesus, Tim Keller, May 22 Psalm devotion] SINGING TOGETHER IS ALEAYS A WITNESS The church is…

SING:… with the local church

Sing with the local church 1 Peter 2:4–5 [4] As you come to him, a living stone rejected by men but in the sight of God chosen and precious, [5] you yourselves like living stones are being built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. (ESV) We are are the church being built together by God to stand forever. Jonathan Edwards once said: The best most perfect…

SING: With Your Family

Sing With Your Family! [5] You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. [6] And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. [7] You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. Deuteronomy 6:5-7(ESV) Teach in…

Sing: With Heart and Mind

Songs are food for the soul, what you sing changes you. Through out the centuries people have learned their faith through what they sang together. Eat good soul food on Sunday and it will cause you to grow through out the week. Here’s how that happens: Singing Takes Sundays Truths into Monday! Sing helps us remember weather it is scripture or biblical truth singing it will help move it form our head to our hearts. We have two voices that…

SING: We are Compelled to Sing!

Alistair Begg once said “Saved people are singing people” “Worship isn’t primarily about music, techniques, songs or methodologies. It’s about our hearts. It’s about what and who we love more than anything.” Bob Kauflin We are compelled to sing because of Christ’s Love. [14] For the love of Christ compels us, because we have concluded this: that one has died for all, therefore all have died; [15] and he died for all, that those who live might no longer live…

SING: We are Commanded to Sing!

The Bible does not say “Thou Shalt Sing” but… it does admonish us to sing! Psalm 96:1-2 [1] Oh sing to the LORD a new song; sing to the LORD, all the earth! [2] Sing to the LORD, bless his name; tell of his salvation from day to day. Psalm 96:1-2(ESV) Psalm 149:1-2 [1] Praise the LORD! Sing to the LORD a new song, his praise in the assembly of the godly! [2] Let Israel be glad in his Maker;…

SING: Created to Sing!

SING: Created to Sing! Psalm 139:13-14 (ESV) [13] For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. [14] I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. Singing starts in the heart: Ephesians 5:19 (ESV) [19] addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart, “Christian singing starts in the heart not the…

SING

SING! by Keith and Kristyn Getty I recently read this gem by Keith and Kristyn Getty. After reading it, I felt this was something that I needed to share with our music ministry. I bought each member of our choir a copy of the book. Over an eight week period, we walked through this book together and talked about the principles and challenges that book presented. Over the next weeks, I will be posting what I shared in our time…

Investing in the Next Generation of Worship Leaders

Over the next several months Rocky Creek has the privilege to host the Campus Bands from North Greenville University, Anderson University, and Charleston Southern University. The bands will be leading our morning worship services. This is an excellent opportunity for us to invest in the next generation of Worship Leaders. Take time now to pray for these students and their ministry. On the Sundays that these students are leading take a moment to encourage them as well. January 14th the…

Lottie Moon Christmas Offering Total

Thank you Rocky Creek for the financial gifts you gave for the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering.  When we counted the offering from the December 31 worship service, our Final Total for Lottie Moon was $38,050.84.  We will be sending that check to the International Mission Board very soon.  This is the second highest amount that Rocky Creek has given to Lottie Moon to support International Missions.  Thank you to everyone who contributed.

Lottie Moon Prayer Focus – Day 8

This is the last prayer focus for the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering.  For the past eight Wednesdays, we have posted this prayer focus to encourage our Church Family to pray for International Missions, to educate our Family about the great work that the International Mission Board and our International Missionaries are doing, and to motivate our Family to financially support the LMCO to help further the work of those missionaries.  Today, IMB President, David Platt reminds us why prayer is…

Lottie Moon Prayer Focus – Day 7

Today, we are close to the end of the “week of prayer” that we have spread over these last two months and today our focus is on how God has worked throughout the entire world and ways He has eternally impacted people.  Watch the video and pray for these missionaries. Our Rocky Creek family have given well to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, but we still have two more Sundays that we will collect for the offering.  If you have…

LMCO – The Cost of Keeping Missionaries on the Field

LMCO – The Cost of Keeping Missionaries on the Field We all know that everything is getting more expensive; Food, Education, Health Care, Lodging, etc.  And that is not just here in the United States.  Missionaries throughout the world also experience higher costs.  The International Mission Board (IMB) has listed some examples of costs for keeping missionaries on the field.  These are just some examples: $6 – Pays for a one-mile taxi ride in Tokyo $25 – Supplies one tank…

Lottie Moon Prayer Focus – Day 6

Praise God for the offering that our Rocky Creek family has given so far, our total at this point is $19,641.  That is a good start, but far from what our Rocky Creek family has given in previous years.  We will continue to collect until December 31. This week as you pray about what to give to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, pray also for the Mikeska family serving in London. At Shane and Lindsay Mikeska’s house in London, Christmas…

LMCO – Even International Missionaries Give To Lottie Moon

In 2014, Rocky Creek sent a team to Senegal to host the Western Gateway Conference, a retreat for missionaries serving throughout West Africa.  Every missionary family that came to the conference came prepared with money they had set aside through the year for Lottie Moon.  Our team had brought dozens of gift baskets for children, adults, and families for a very special Lottie Moon Auction. The missionaries had a blast bidding on the different baskets and they all went home…

Lottie Moon Prayer Focus – Day 5

This week we are over halfway through our LMCO Prayer focus.  This coming Sunday we will be collecting our LMCO offering at Rocky Creek.  As you pray for these missionaries each week, pray also about how you can be partnered with them through your financial gifts to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering. On Sunday, December 10, you can give with a check made out to Rocky Creek Baptist Church and put “LMCO” in the memo section, put it in one…
