Disaster Relief / RebuildSC
Earlier this summer, Rocky Creek sent a small team of four men to Nichols, SC to work at Nichols Baptist Church, which had been damaged by flooding in October 2016. Nearly all of the 261 homes in the town were left uninhabitable. Our team helped the church repair it’s sanctuary and soon the church will be hosting teams that come to work on houses in the area.
With Hurricane Harvey having just blasted Texas and Louisiana, and Hurricane Irma having just about destroyed many of the Caribbean Islands and almost blowing Florida (and a good portion of the Southeast including the Upstate) off the map, there will continue to be much work to be done through Disaster Relief.
When a family’s home is flooded or damaged by storms, it does much more than just damage the home. Many times the family has to relocate, sometimes they have to split up to live with relatives for quite a long time. There is fear and uncertainty every time another storm comes through. There is and extreme about of financial burden and that brings burdens on the family dynamic as well. When Southern Baptist Disaster Relief teams come into a disaster area and start offering to help rebuild a home, it does much more than just repairing the home. The family is loved on and exposed to people who love Jesus and many times that family is brought into a loving relationship with Jesus Christ.
When Southern Baptist Disaster Relief teams come into a disaster area and start offering to help rebuild a home, it does much more than just repairing the home.
Janie Chapman funds help sponsor Disaster Relief work in the state of South Carolina and helps to train and prepare teams to be ready to respond to disasters in other areas. Read this web-post to learn more.
