Options for Christian Giving and Good Stewardship

Christians should be generous. In fact, Christians should give more than non-believers since our security is not in money and savings. We should give as we are led by God while focusing on good stewardship of our resources. Our goal should be a giving that maximizes the resources available for ministry by the charities we support while providing those resources in the most efficient manner, providing us the ability to give more. We will explore some general concepts to be…

Opportunities at Perry Correctional Institution

On Sunday, June 24, a group of men from Rocky Creek was able to worship at Perry Correctional Institution and tour the facility in order to discover how we can minister to the inmates at Perry Correctional.  Men at Rocky Creek have the opportunity to encourage the inmates at Perry Correctional to pursue Jesus and seek to obey Him. Metanoia Prison Ministries, whose sole vision is to disciple prison inmates, is looking for men to develop mentor relationships at Perry…

Bible Reading Plan for Week of September 23

In the first part of Genesis we discovered some important truths about God – He is eternal, Creator, holy, just, gracious and merciful.  As we keep reading in Genesis we are going to focus on the lives of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, and Joseph in the coming weeks.  God will not change and we will see how He is accomplishing His purposes through the lives of these individuals.  On Saturday and Sunday, we’ll focus on the Scriptures for our Gospel…

Disaster Relief for Hurricane Florence

While we were graciously spared in the Upstate from the wrath of Hurricane Florence, many were not.  Parts of Eastern North Carolina have seen flooding where houses will likely have to be completely demolished, or being completely gutted, all furnishings, sheetrock, electrical, HVAC, etc being removed and eventually replaced.  It is a painstaking task, and since Hurricane Matthew hit almost exactly 2 years ago in about the same areas, some of those homes and businesses have been sitting vacant and…

As We Gather – Sunday September 23, 2018

Scripture: Who can fathom the Spirit of the LORD, or instruct the LORD as his counselor? Whom did the LORD consult to enlighten him, and who taught him the right way? Who was it that taught him knowledge, or showed him the path of understanding? Isaiah 40:13-14 (ESV) As you prepare for worship this week, take time to pray for the services and the people who will be attending. Pray that God will speak through the music and the message. You…

Over and Beyond

On Sunday, September 30th, we are asking our church family to give a onetime Over and Beyond Offering for our Forward campus plan. In order to keep the quality what we believe it should be in phases 1 & 3 of renovations, and to collect an initial commitment to phase 4, we are asking the church body to pray about giving a onetime Over and Beyond Offering on Sunday, Sept. 30th. We would use this offering towards covering the costs for…

The Faithfulness of God

Studying the attributes of God, it is critical to address the issue of God’s faithfulness.  Can God be trusted to do what he says he will do? Incorrect Perception: The Unreliable God The unreliable god is walking around with some significant baggage left by numerous people in our lives.  Each of us knows what it feels like to be forgotten and isolated.  Too many people have broken some precious promises which led us to some serious consequences.  Each time that…

Bible Reading Plan for Week of September 16

This week will finish reading the book of Job.  Hopefully, you have gained some insights into how to help those who are suffering and also to realize that God sees us in our suffering and He does care.  We may not know the answer to “why” we suffer, but we can know “who” God is and trust His goodness.  The end of this week has us moving back to Genesis to begin looking at the life of Abraham.  On Saturday…

Florence and Sunday’s Schedule

While many people will claim meteorologists exaggerated or missed the impact of Hurricane Florence, I will just take it as another reminder of God’s protection.  As the storm has weakened, it is just another indication of God’s goodness to us. While we don’t know how much rain and wind will accumulate throughout the night, we do not want to change Sunday morning’s schedule on speculation. At each point of this storm, it has seemed to weaken than what was expected.…

Revelation 1:5-6 (ESV) and from Jesus Christ the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of kings on earth. The Transcendence of God

Attributes of God are the foundational beliefs about who God is and what He is like that comes from Scripture.  You can’t worship a God fully if you only know Him partially. One critical attribute to study is the transcendence of God. Incorrect Perception: The Man Upstairs God Many people casually refer to God as the Man Upstairs.  Minimizing the unthinkable chasm between His quality and our quality, they diminish His character as someone only slightly higher than us.  This diluted…
