Bible Reading Plan for Week of December 30

As we transition into the new year, it is fitting that we are transitioning from the book of Deuteronomy to the book of Joshua.  The Israelites are transitioning from the wilderness to the Promised Land and the leadership transitions from Moses to Joshua.  God is sovereign through these transitions, and He is still sovereign today.   Allow Him to lead you this year and experience all that He has for you.  On Saturday and Sunday, we’ll focus on the Scriptures…

What’s God’s Will for My Life?

If you are like most people, you may be wondering what the will of God is for your life. What is your next step? Be assured that there is one person who wants you to know the will of God even more than you want to know it – and that is God Himself! He will not hide it from you, and He sincerely wants you to fulfill it. Read what God’s will is for your life in Ephesians 5:15-17.…

Bible Reading Plan for Week of December 23

We are continuing to learn about the law through the book of Deuteronomy.  We have seen what God has done for Israel (chapters 1-4) and some of what God expects of Israel.  Our readings this week show us more of what God expects and they take us into a section of what God will do for Israel (chapters 27-34).  On Saturday and Sunday, we’ll focus on the Scriptures for our Gospel Groups and the Sunday sermon.  Please consider the questions…

Practical Ways to Disciple Teenagers

In the follow-up session of parenting matters, Ministry Intern Alex Gore gave practical ways for parents to disciple their children. In this session, he encouraged parents to model the SHEMA, found in Deuteronomy 6:4-9. He explained to parents that the most important thing for a person is to love the Lord with all of their heart, soul, and might. As a byproduct of parents modeling their love for God, the hope is that children would see it and do exactly…

As We Gather

As We Gather – Sunday December 23 2018 Here is a link to the songs we will be singing this week. Sunday Music Sermon: Start Acting Like a Child [Mark 10:13-16] – In a time when people viewed children as distracting annoyances, Jesus intentionally prioritized them. Not only should we prioritize children, but we should start acting like them when it comes to the Kingdom of God. Service Order: Call to Worship – – Joy Has Dawned – O Holy…

Fear Not – God [Still] Has a Plan

Fear not – God still has a plan. If you are like me, you probably have believed at some point that God did have a plan for your life, but along the way, you honestly begin to wonder if he is just making it up as he goes along.  Have you ever felt like someone made plans that began well, full of good intentions, but sometime later, you feel as if the whole thing is coming off the tracks? You might have even…

Important Year End Information

Steve Saint on John Chau

On January 8, 1956, the world was shocked to learn that 5 young Christian missionaries were speared to death by Indians they were trying to reach with the Gospel.  If you are not familiar with their story, you can read about it in the link at the bottom.   Nate Saint was one of the men killed, and his young son, Steve, grew up and continued his father’s passion for reaching the Auca Indian.  In the link below he talks…

Bible Reading Plan for Week of December 16

We are getting a second look at the laws of God as we read through Deuteronomy.  As you read this week think about how well you are living up to God’s standards.  God does want us to live holy lives, but He also wants us to run to Jesus when we fall short.  Take time this week to think about Christmas as well.  Prepare to celebrate the coming of Jesus and the significance of His birth, life, death and resurrection.…

Your Teenager’s Addiction to Technology

As most of us are aware, technology is impacting the world in both good and bad ways. In the parenting matters series Rocky Creek provided for families, Ministry Intern Alex Gore discussed the urgency of parents knowing how social media, technology, and gaming are impacting student’s biblical worldview. Alex informed parents about the seriousness of this issue. He told parents about different social apps that have been linked to depression, insecurity, cyberbullying, idolization of self, authoritative matters, and many other…
