When a disaster strikes, there is often a push to help send supplies and such for relief. Sometimes if you are not careful, your well meaning contribution may end up in some place where you don’t intend. It is always a good idea to check out anyone you plan to donate funds or resources through.
The places listed below are all organizations that are solid and trusted in Disaster Relief. If you feel led to donate funds to help victims of Hurricane Dorian, these three organizations will use those funds in reliable ways to help.
SC Convention Disaster Relief, there is a place to donate as an individual and you can choose Dorian Relief.
Samaritan’s Purse, Franklin Graham’s ministry, does great disaster relief work.
The Red Cross is another place, they do great work, not spiritual, but needed help.
Please be cautious about sending items at this time. Many times local groups will ask for people to help fill a truck with water bottles, food, or clothing, to help disaster victims. Especially during the early phase of disaster relief, the greatest need is money which can be used to supply water, food or clothing – as needed and when needed. Sometimes those items can actually get in the way of the immediate needs. So during the initial phase of Disaster Relief, donating money, and blood are the greatest ways you can help.
Also, if you would be interested in being trained to help in times of Disaster, the SC Baptist Convention Disaster Relief has a training time on October 11-12. You can find out more on their website http://www.scbaptist.org/dr/
