One way that our Rocky Creek Family can help participate in Missions is through the Janie Chapman Missions Offering. This special offering in September of every year helps to support mission work in and through South Carolina. There will be a number of web-posts about this offering and each one will try to share a different aspect of how the Janie Chapman Missions Offering is used. As you read over these, consider how you could participate and give to this important offering.
On Sunday, September 15, RC will collect our offering for Janie Chapman. Over the past several years, we have given about $2000 each year. Please pray and consider if $2000 is enough for RC to give.
START – PAVE THE WAY THROUGH CHURCH PLANTING
To help church planters get started, the Janie Chapman Offering provides funds for church planting training and stipends. Monthly stipends are available through an application process for church planting residencies and for church planters. These funds are provided for up to three years. “The convention is very generous to church planters in assisting financially and in training on the fundraising process,” explained one church planter.
The Janie Chapman Offering is a critical source of support for church planting according to Cliff Marshall, Church Planting Team Leader for the SCBC. “If we are going to see our state saturated and transformed by the hope of the gospel, starting and restarting churches is an absolute necessity,” Marshall emphasizes. “The money given to the Janie Chapman offering for state missions makes it possible to plant more churches and reach more people.”
