Janie Chapman Missions Offering – How Your Gift Helps #6

One way that our Rocky Creek Family can help participate in Missions is through the Janie Chapman Missions Offering. This special offering in September of every year helps to support mission work in and through South Carolina. There will be a number of web-posts about this offering and each one will try to share a different aspect of how the Janie Chapman Missions Offering is used.  As you read over these, consider how you could participate and give to this important offering.

This coming Sunday, September 15, RC will collect our offering for Janie Chapman.  Over the past several years, we have given about $2000 each year.  Please pray and consider if $2000 is enough for RC to give.

You can make your check out to Rocky Creek and mark “Janie Chapman” on the memo section, or you can use one of the Janie Chapman Missions Offering envelopes in the envelope holders in the sanctuary chairs.

ASSOCIATIONAL PARTNERSHIPS – PAVE THE WAY BY PARTNERING WITH LOCAL BAPTIST ASSOCIATIONS AND CHURCHES

The South Carolina Baptist Convention partners with local Baptist Associations to help with church planting, struggling church “re-starts”, mission partnerships, and many other ways.  Funds from the Janie Chapman Missions Offering helps in all of those efforts.

Last year, 17 Directors of Missions and other Associational leaders completed reSTART training at the North American Mission Board to help them be prepared to assist struggling churches. The SC Baptist Convention assisted nine different churches with reSTARTing in 2018.  These are churches that had lost their effectiveness and forgotten their communities, but are now able to saturate their community again with the hope of the Gospel, thanks to funding from the Janie Chapman Missions Offering.

WOMEN’S MISSIONARY UNION – PAVE THE WAY THROUGH MISSIONS EDUCATION

This organization works alongside the SC Baptist Convention to help lead SC Baptists in reaching the lost. Their funds help with Camps, Missions Scholarships, Gifts to Missionaries, and Missions Education. While the name is “Women’s” Missionary Union, they work to help women, men, girls, boys and preschoolers discover and live out their missions call.  Funds from the Janie Chapman Missions Offering helps to provide funds to further their work.
