Bible Reading Plan for Week of December 9

We are finishing up the book of Numbers this week and we’ll move into the book of Deuteronomy.  Deuteronomy restates and reinforces the law that God has already given.  Repetition is a good thing.  Deuteronomy is an “expansion of much of the original law given on Mount Sinai” so pay attention and don’t miss what God is communicating.  On Saturday and Sunday, we’ll focus on the Scriptures for our Gospel Groups and the Sunday sermon.  Please consider the questions below…

Important Year End Information

December has arrived and in a few short weeks we will say good-bye to 2018, and we will welcome 2019.  As we come to the end of the year, please note the following important information. The church office will be closed December 24, 2018 – January 1, 2019.  However, we will be checking the mail and phone messages daily.  Staff and the deacon on call are available via cell phone as well during this time. Bible Reading Plan for Week of December 2

This week in the book of Numbers we will move from Kadesh-barnea through the wilderness to the plains of Moab.  Despite Israel’s rebellion and complaining God remains faithful.  We’ll discover how Balaam blesses Israel and see how God sovereignly protects and provides for His people.  He continues to keep His covenant and is bringing to pass His promises.  On Saturday and Sunday, we’ll focus on the Scriptures for our Gospel Groups and the Sunday sermon.  Please consider the questions below…

Bible Reading Plan for Week of November 25

Keep reading in the book of Numbers this week and see how the experiences of two generations in the life of Israel are chronicled.  Numbers 1-14 tells about the generation that participated in the Exodus from Egypt, but they refused to trust God and enter the Land.  After the death of the first generation, the second generation, makes preparations to obtain what God has promised.  On Saturday and Sunday, we’ll focus on the Scriptures for our Gospel Groups and the…

The Book of Numbers

Today in the Bible Reading Plan we start reading the book of Numbers.  Over the next couple of weeks we will read through this book and see how God moved His chosen people to the edge of the Promised Land.  It’s a tale of two generations and how the nation of Israel “had to go through the painful process of testing and maturation.”  Go had to teach His people the consequences of irresponsible decisions, and they spent 40 years in…

Bible Reading Plan for Week of November 18

This week we will finish up the book of Leviticus and start the books of Numbers.   Before going into the Promised Land the Israelites took stock of their military.  The names and numbers may not be the most exciting thing to read in Scripture, but “it helps to remember that these were real people who were about to do something very bold and very important – take over the land God promised them.”  The book also contains key rules…

Bible Reading Plan for Week of November 11

We are continuing to work our way through the many laws of Leviticus.  Don’t quit and don’t give up!  “God’s holiness, mankind’s sinfulness, sacrifice, and God’s presence in the sanctuary are the book’s most common themes.”  See the holy character of God and how we should pursue holiness, by God’s means.  This should cause us to remember Christ and what He gave to us on the cross.  On Saturday and Sunday, we’ll focus on the Scriptures for our Gospel Groups…

What is the book of Leviticus about?

Over the next few weeks we will be reading through the book of Leviticus for our Bible Reading Plan.  Below are a couple of video resources from The Bible Project to help you understand this important book.  The two videos together last about 15 minutes, and hopefully they will help you understand the truths that God wanted to communicate to the Israelites and to us.  You can check out more videos on books and themes of the Bible from The…

Bible Reading Plan for Week on November 4

Last week we started the book of Leviticus, and we will continue reading through it this week.  Leviticus contains a great deal of law presented in historical format.  In the book of Leviticus God gives instruction for how His people should worship Him and obey Him.  As you read through Leviticus, examine your own worship and obedience to the Lord.  On Saturday and Sunday, we’ll focus on the Scriptures for our Gospel Groups and the Sunday sermon.  Please consider the…

Bible Reading Plan for Week of October 21

God has heard the cries of His people and He has rescued them from Egyptian slavery.  He has shown His power and grace through the 10 plagues and the crossing of the Red Sea.  Now God will continue to show His power and grace as the Israelites travel through the wilderness to come to the Promised Land.  As you continue reading in Exodus, think about God’s power and grace that have been demonstrated in your own life.  On Saturday and…

Bible Reading Plan for Week of October 14

The second book of Moses and the second book in the Bible is Exodus.  The dominant history recorded in the book is the departure of Israel from Egypt.  Moses leads God’s people, and many important events in the history of Israel are chronicled in the book of Exodus.  As you read this week, meditate on God’s presence, protection, and provision.  See the foreshadowing of Christ our Passover (1 Corinthians 5:7) in the readings this week.  On Saturday and Sunday, we’ll…

Bible Reading Plan for Week of October 7

This week we will finish up the book of Genesis.  We will see how God works in the life of Jospeh.  Then we start the book of Exodus and discover how God brought His people of of Egypt.  As you read and see how God worked in the lives of people many years ago, know that He is still working in the lives of people to write His story (and ours).   On Saturday and Sunday, we’ll focus on the…

On Sunday, June 24, a group of men from Rocky Creek was able to worship at Perry Correctional Institution and tour the facility in order to discover how we can minister to the inmates at Perry Correctional.  Men at Rocky Creek have the opportunity to encourage the inmates at Perry Correctional to pursue Jesus and seek to obey Him. Metanoia Prison Ministries, whose sole vision is to disciple prison inmates, is looking for men to develop mentor relationships at Perry…

Bible Reading Plan for Week of September 23

In the first part of Genesis we discovered some important truths about God – He is eternal, Creator, holy, just, gracious and merciful.  As we keep reading in Genesis we are going to focus on the lives of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, and Joseph in the coming weeks.  God will not change and we will see how He is accomplishing His purposes through the lives of these individuals.  On Saturday and Sunday, we’ll focus on the Scriptures for our Gospel…

Over and Beyond

On Sunday, September 30th, we are asking our church family to give a onetime Over and Beyond Offering for our Forward campus plan. In order to keep the quality what we believe it should be in phases 1 & 3 of renovations, and to collect an initial commitment to phase 4, we are asking the church body to pray about giving a onetime Over and Beyond Offering on Sunday, Sept. 30th. We would use this offering towards covering the costs for…

Bible Reading Plan for Week of September 16

This week will finish reading the book of Job.  Hopefully, you have gained some insights into how to help those who are suffering and also to realize that God sees us in our suffering and He does care.  We may not know the answer to “why” we suffer, but we can know “who” God is and trust His goodness.  The end of this week has us moving back to Genesis to begin looking at the life of Abraham.  On Saturday…

Bible Basics Class

How do you know who God is?  How do you know what He is like?  How do you know how we should respond to Him?  How do you know the truth about other things in life?  The answers are contained in the Bible. On Sunday nights at 6:00pm in the Storehouse, Jeremy Smith will help you investigate questions such as, What is Man?  Who is Christ?  What is the atonement?  What is the resurrection?  What is death? What does it…
