Understanding the Book of Habakkuk

Today, for the Rocky Creek Bible Reading Plan (Dec 2019 – Feb 2020) we will be reading the book of Habakkuk, who is a contemporary of Nahum, Zephaniah, and Jeremiah.  This short book teaches us a lot about God through a dialogue between Himself and the prophet.  Habakkuk poses some questions and then God answers them as He explains what He is doing.  The final chapter is prayer of praise of Habakkuk for who God is.  As you read praise…

Pray in Faith – Bible Study

Of all the things that the disciples could have asked Jesus, Luke 11 records that they asked Jesus to teach them to pray. During this study we will not only learn about prayer, but we will spend time praying with and for others. “God is inviting you to experience a deeper, more meaningful relationship with Him through prayer. This study teaches you to cultivate a personal walk with God as you practice six kinds of prayer; learn to hear from…

Bible Reading Plan for Week of November 24

We all face temptation every day.  Even Jesus faced temptations.  In Matthew 4:1-11 when Jesus was tempted in the wilderness He responded with “It is written…”  Then he quoted a passage in Deuteronomy to combat the temptation.  Jesus was able to fight against the temptation to sin because He knew the Word of God.  This week spend time reading, meditating on, and memorizing Scripture so you can fight temptations to sin as well.  On Saturday and Sunday, we’ll focus on…

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.  Put on the full armor of God … and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” (Ephesians 6:10-11, 17)  The spiritual armor that we put on protects us from the enemy and we also have an offensive weapon in the Bible.  The “sword” can be used to combat the enemy’s lies with truth.  Take up  your “sword” this week and use it effectively.  On Saturday…
