Bible Reading Plan for Week of July 22

Peter was in Jesus’ inner circle and shared many intimate moments with Him.  Over the course of several years Peter was transformed from a rugged fisherman to someone who would die for his faith in Jesus.  Jesus knew what He was getting when He chose Peter, and He knew what He could become.  The same is true for us.  Jesus knows us and wants to transform us as we read and obey the Bible.  As you read 1 and 2…

On Sunday, June 24, a group of men from Rocky Creek was able to worship at Perry Correctional Institution and tour the facility in order to discover how we can minister to the inmates at Perry Correctional.  Men at Rocky Creek have the opportunity to encourage the inmates at Perry Correctional to pursue Jesus and seek to obey Him. Bible Reading Plan for Week of July 15

This week we’ll read three different books from the New Testament.  Jude instructs us in how to confront false teachers and how we should contend for the faith.  And although Timothy and Titus are addressed to pastors, they provide valuable information for all believers today.  We can gain insight into how the church should be structured and how if should function.  Seek to grow in your faith this week and understand more of who God is and His purpose for…

Bible Reading Plan for Week of July 8

This week we’ll read in 1 and 2 Thessalonians.  Paul had ministered in Thessalonica, but was forced to quickly depart because of the Jews.  These letters are written out of concern for the church and to help new believers be encouraged in their faith.  As they faced persecution and false teachings, Paul encourages them to increase in faith and love and be grounded in the truth of God’s Word.  Paul is able to address some concerns that the believers have…

Serving as a Deacon

In his letter to the Philippians, Paul writes “to all the saints in Christ Jesus at Philippi, together with the overseers and deacons.”  In the body of Christ at Philippi there were saints (members), and some happened to be overseers (pastors) and some happened to be deacons (servants).  As at Philippi, at Rocky Creek all three play a vital role in the health and effectiveness of the church. According to the Bible, deacons are to serve the people by helping…

Bible Reading Plan for Week of July 1

This week we’ll read several short New Testament books.  Although small in size, they have some very practical truths that we can learn and apply.  As you read through these books discover God’s character and see how he wants you to respond to the truths presented.  God’s Word should continually transform us.  Renew your mind this week and allow that to transform your thoughts, words, and actions.  On Saturday and Sunday, we’ll focus on the Scriptures for our Gospel Groups…

Bible Reading Plan for Week of June 24

This week we will read through Philemon, which we will study July 8, and Colossians, which we will look at July 1.  “Paul wrote the letter to the church at Colossae when he learned through Epaphras that heretical teachings were running through the church.  Paul’s letter pointed the church to the person and work of Jesus Christ.  The cross of Christ is not merely a theory for theologians to ponder; it’s a real-life, real-time reality that heals, restores, and reconciles.…

Bible Reading Plan for Week of June 17

This week we will read through two New Testament books – Jude and Philippians.  Jude, the half-brother of Jesus, “calls the church to fight, in the midst of intense spiritual warfare, for the truth.”  He confronts apostasy, the defection from true, biblical faith.  The church must stand in truth today, as well.  In Philippians, we’ll discover that we can have joy regardless of our circumstances.  Paul writes from prison to encourage the church at Philippi to continue walking with God…

Bible Reading Plan for Week of June 10

This week we will continue our journey through Second Corinthians.  On his missionary journeys Paul had served in Corinth and shared the gospel in this prominent city of Greece.  He is now writing to this body of believers to “urge them to prepare for his impending visit by completing the collection they had started a year previously and by dealing with the troublemakers [false teachers who infiltrated the church] in their midst.  He warns them that he means what he…

Bible Reading Plan for Week of June 3

Glasses for Ecuador Mission Trip

In July 2018 Rocky Creek will send a team to Ecuador to work with Iglesia Bautista Nueva Vida.  We are praying that people see Jesus for who He really is and desire to follow Him as disciples.  We are collecting reading glasses through June 17, 2018 in order to distribute to people in Ecuador.  Please place glasses with strength 1.25 to 2.00 in the box outside the chapel.  Monetary donations for this trip are being collected as well.  Any contributions…

Bible Reading Plan for Week of May 20

This week we will continue reading through the book of Hebrews to discover that Jesus is better than…  Therefore, we should live by faith in Him.  We should have much encouragement from being in Christ since He is the author and perfecter of our faith.  We should also take great comfort and gain encouragement from saints that lived by faith before us.  These truths should help us depend on Christ for everything we need.    On Saturday and Sunday, we’ll…

Bible Reading Plan for Week of May 13

This week we will start reading through the book of Hebrews.  The author encourages those who have stepped out of Judaism into Christianity to keep pursuing Christ.  Jesus is better than the Judaic system and anything else.  Basically, Jesus is much better than…  The believers should continue to mature in their faith and not revert back in order to escape persecution.  On Saturday we’ll prepare for our Gospel Groups and take a little break in the middle of Hebrews to…

Bible Reading Plan for Week of May 6

This week we will read through the book of Ephesians.  Paul writes this epistle to the church and gives believers doctrinal and practical insights into the christian faith.  Chapters 1-3 talk about the position of the christian, and chapters 4-6 talk about the practices of the christian.  Gain a proper understanding of who you are “in Christ” and then live in the reality of this truth.  Remind yourself that being a christian means being called to the battle ground, not…
