Bible Reading Plan for Week of April 29

This week we will read through the book of Galatians.  Paul writes this epistle to the church to encourage believers to walk by faith.  Do not give up your “voyage of faith and chart a course based on works…Galatians is a vigorous attack against the gospel of works, and a defense of the gospel of faith.”  As you read, remind yourself of the gospel and how you should respond accordingly.  The law is not for us to try to perfectly…

Playground Demolition Day

Saturday, May 12, is demolition and clean up day at the Rocky Creek playground.  We need to remove the mulch, fencing, and current playground equipment to be ready for a playground makeover.  Later in May we’ll have new equipment, turf, and fencing installed. We’ll start at 8:00am on May 12.  Food and drinks will be provided. Please contact Keith Westcott, keith@rockycreekonline.org, or 864-288-1323, if you are able to help May 12.  If you can’t come right at 8:00am, join us…

Bible Reading Plan for Week of April 22

This week we will continue reading the book of Romans.  Continue to read it prayerfully and ask God to change you.  May He transform us by the renewing of our minds (12:2).  Because of our position in Christ and what He has done, let us live appropriately.   May we live in a manner that is worthy of Christ and seek to magnify Him in all we do.  On Saturday and Sunday, we’ll focus on the Scriptures for our Gospel…

Bible Reading Plan for Week of April 15

This week we will begin reading the book of Romans.  “The book of Romans is considered by many as the ultimate hallmark of Paul’s letters to the churches, with some scholars suggesting that every major revival in church history has been preceded by the faithful preaching of it.”  Read prayerfully and ask God to revive you as you meditate on the truths of this book.  On Saturday and Sunday, we’ll focus on the Scriptures for our Gospel Groups and the…

Bible Reading Plan for Week of April 8

This week we will look at some key passages from the Pastoral Epistles.  In reading 1 and 2 Timothy and Titus we find significant themes regarding pastors.  God gives pastors to His church to lead His people in obedience to His Word, and He calls on Christians to pray for and support the pastors He has given to lead us in our mission of making disciples.  On Saturday and Sunday, we’ll focus on the Scriptures for our Gospel Groups and…

Bible Reading Plan for Week of April 1

Although we read through the book of 1 John a few weeks ago, we will be reading through this book again.  Repetition is a good thing.  The book of 1 John deals with several recurring themes.  As you read through this book notice the topics of love, obedience, and truth continue to pop up.  For believers, these three elements should characterize our lives.  Are the things John says evident in your life?  Hopefully, the answer is “yes” and  we pass…

Bible Reading Plan For Week of March 25

This time between Palm Sunday and Easter is referred to as the Passion Week or Holy Week.  This name represents the passion with which Jesus willingly went to the cross. He did this to pay for your sins—the sins of all of His people.  As you read this week think about what Jesus suffered on your behalf.  Remember how, as the Lamb of God, he became the sufficient substitute for your sins.  On Saturday and Sunday, we’ll focus on the…

Upcoming Study – The Divine Mentor

Do you need a mentor to help you with marriage, ministry, parenting, school, or just life in general?  Ultimately, God is our “Divine Mentor”, but in His Word He has given us many other mentors who can help us throughout our lives, as well. During this 8 week study (Wednesdays April 11-May 30 from 6:30-7:30pm in room 342) we will read Wayne Cordeiro’s book, The Divine Mentor, and we will put its truths into practice.  The goal is not for…

Bible Reading Plan for Week of March 18

First Peter is written to Jewish believers struggling in the midst of persecution. Peter encourages them to pursue righteous living and holy conduct because of who Christ is and what He has done.  As you read this book this week think about who you are in Christ and how you should act.  Who we are should determine our behavior.  On Saturday and Sunday, we’ll focus on the Scriptures for our Gospel Groups and the Sunday sermon.  Please consider the questions…

Bible Reading Plan for Week of March 11

James is a book of action and gives believers some practical things to do in regards to how they live the Christian life.  Although written to Jewish believers who had been dispersed, the content is very relevant for today.  “James, with its devotion to direct, pungent statements on wise living, is reminiscent of the book of Proverbs.” (MacArthur Study Bible)  So gain wisdom this week and be a “doer of the Word.” On Saturday and Sunday, we’ll focus on the…

Bible Reading Plan for Week of March 4

This week we will spend time in the New Testament book of 1 John.  It is one of three letters, in addition to his gospel and Revelation, that John writes to encourage people in the faith of Jesus. The basics of Christianity are emphasized and the words fellowship, light, and love are foundational.  On Saturday and Sunday, we’ll focus on the Scriptures for our Gospel Groups and the Sunday sermon.  Please consider the questions below regarding the Scriptures for our…

Bible Basics Class on Sunday Nights

How do you know who God is?  How do you know what He is like?  How do you know how we should respond to Him?  How do you know the truth about other things in life?  The answers are contained in the Bible. On Sunday nights at 6:00pm in the Storehouse, April 8 to May 6, Jeremy Smith will help you investigate questions such as, What is the Bible?  What is God like?  What is the Trinity?  What is creation?…

Bible Reading Plan for week of February 25

Sunday in our Gospel Groups we learned about Paul’s time in Ephesus.  After his time there he wrote a letter to this church.  Ephesians is a powerful book that contains much theological and practical content.  As you read through the book learn who you are in Christ and then how to live in that reality.   On Saturday and Sunday we’ll focus on the Scriptures for our Gospel Groups and the Sunday sermon.  Please consider the questions below regarding the…

Bible Reading Plan for Week of February 18

On Paul’s way to Athens in Acts 17, he stopped and shared about Christ in Thessalonica.  He wasn’t well received, but he persevered to fulfill God’s purpose for him.  As we continue reading through the NT, we’ll read 1 and 2 Thessalonians this week, and on Saturday and Sunday we’ll focus on the Scriptures for our Gospel Groups and the Sunday sermon.  Please consider the questions below regarding the Scriptures for our Gospel Groups. Sunday, February 18 – Colossians 1:1 – 4:18 Monday,…

Bible Reading Plan for Week of February 11

We studied Acts 16 in our Gospel Groups and discovered that Paul and Silas traveled to Philippi and presented truth to at least three individuals.  The gospel message was received and it starts bearing much fruit.  The church at Philippi is formed and Paul has a strong affection for this body of believers.  Therefore, we’ll read through Paul’s letter to the Philippians this week and then on Saturday and Sunday, we’ll focus on the Scriptures for our Gospel Groups and the Sunday sermon.  Please consider the questions…

Ladies Bible Study – Finding I AM

During his sermon on January 28, Pastor Travis shared the “6 Categories of Discipleship”. Delight – Discipleship must be motivated by the wondrous delight of knowing Jesus. Disobedience – Discipleship must warn against disobedience in any sinful leanings specific to the person. Doctrine – Discipleship must wisely equip the follower to possess competent biblical doctrine.
