The Importance of the Bible in our Gospel Groups

Gospel Groups are an integral part of the ministry at Rocky Creek, and they help us make disciples that love, grow, and serve through intentional relationships.  The following are some values that we think are important for all Gospel Groups: AUTHORITY – God’s Word is our guide. MATURITY – Our leaders are growing. AUTHENTICITY – It is safe to be real. ACCOUNTABILITY – We keep each other on the right path. AVAILABILITY – We are accessible beyond the gathering. REPRODUCIBILITY – We grow to…

Don’t Believe These Parenting Myths

Being a parent is hard work.  It takes a lot of time, knowledge, wisdom, patience, money, and so much more.  However, it is worth it because, “children are a gift from the Lord” (Psalm 127:3). God wants us to treasure these gifts and point them to the Gift-giver, God.  God desires that our children know Him and walk in His ways, but there is an enemy who wants to discourage and frustrate us in our teaching and training in godliness. In…

Increasing Biblical Literacy

We are currently going through a sermon series at Rocky Creek called “The Word Off Our Shelves and Into Our Lives” and we are on day 40 on our 100 Day Bible Reading Plan.  The goal of both of these is to give us an understanding of the major theme of the Bible and to see how it is one connected narrative, not a bunch of disconnected stories. Jesus Set an Example for us as a Servant

This past Sunday in our Gospel Groups we looked at John 13.  Jesus is hours away from His crucifixion, and He takes up the position of a servant at the Passover meal.  The Master and Teacher should not be the one to wash the disciples feet.  However, Jesus puts a towel around his waist and fills a basin with water.  He then wipes the dust and dirt from the feet of the men who have walked with Him for the last three years. …
