Worship & Service and Discipleship

God has called us to worship Him and to serve Him. Though these may appear to be separate actions, the bibles shows us that they are closer then we think. Download Handout: PD 09 – Worship and Service WORSHIP: God has called us to worship Him. He has given us directions on what is acceptable worship and what is not. To worship God is to ascribe the proper worth to God, to magnify His worthiness of praise, or better, to…

Bible Reading Plan for Week of March 4

March Parenting Principle #3

Principle: Your children need God’s law, but you cannot ask the law to do what only grace can accomplish. As Christian parents, many of us know that our children are born with a desperation for God’s law. They come into the world not knowing what is true or what is false. They cannot distinguish between good or bad, and right and wrong. Ted Tripp says, “they need the grace of wisdom that God’s law alone can give.” He further says,…

SING: We are Compelled to Sing!

Alistair Begg once said “Saved people are singing people” “Worship isn’t primarily about music, techniques, songs or methodologies. It’s about our hearts. It’s about what and who we love more than anything.” Bob Kauflin We are compelled to sing because of Christ’s Love. [14] For the love of Christ compels us, because we have concluded this: that one has died for all, therefore all have died; [15] and he died for all, that those who live might no longer live…

Fasting and Discipleship

Fasting is an important and yet overlooked spiritual discipline.  While most disciplines encourage people to do something, fasting encourages people to do without something. Fasting is the voluntary denial of physical food for spiritual purposes.  Download Handout – PD 08 – Fasting and Discipleship Understanding a Biblical Fast Fasting is not a sacred diet. Fasting is not a manipulative tactic. Fasting is not a mystical superstition. Fasting is denying the flesh to seek the spiritual. Fasting is valuing the feasting on…

SING: We are Commanded to Sing!

The Bible does not say “Thou Shalt Sing” but… it does admonish us to sing! Psalm 96:1-2 [1] Oh sing to the LORD a new song; sing to the LORD, all the earth! [2] Sing to the LORD, bless his name; tell of his salvation from day to day. Psalm 96:1-2(ESV) Psalm 149:1-2 [1] Praise the LORD! Sing to the LORD a new song, his praise in the assembly of the godly! [2] Let Israel be glad in his Maker;…

RC Senior Salvation Bracelet Success

Today, February 20, a large group of our RC Seniors gathered in the Fellowship Hall to put together Salvation Bracelets that our team will carry to Brazil in June.  As usual, when our Seniors get together, there is a lot of fun and fellowship, but they worked hard as well.  2,000 salvation bracelets were made by the 80 people who showed up to work.  The hotdog lunch afterwards was a lot of fun as well. If you are not a…
