Meet Daniel Gibson – Rocky Creek’s Part-Time Media Coordinator

Our Rocky Creek staff and personnel team are excited to announce our newest part-time media coordinator – Daniel Gibson. Daniel joined the team on January 1, 2019, after serving as a college intern last year under Donald Shockley’s supervision in the music and media area. Daniel’s new responsibilities will include coordinating the media communications, leading the Rocky Creek creative team, and overseeing graphics for individual ministry areas. To introduce you to Daniel, he answered following questions: Why did you want…

Understanding the Book of Joshua

Today, in the Rocky Creek Bible Reading Plan, we start reading the book of Joshua.  Moses has died and Joshua is now leading the Israelites into the Promised Land.  Under Joshua’s capable leadership the Israelites learn that victory comes through faith in God and obedience to His word, rather than through military might or numerical superiority.  Check out the video below from the Bible Project to give you an overview of the book.  Hopefully, this helps you prepare for the…

Introducing The 2nd Mile Podcast

I have started a podcast in 2019 entitled The 2nd Mile. While our church has a podcast that archives weekly sermons, I wanted a platform to equip others in their pursuit of Christ.  I have grown so much from listening to podcasts, and I want to take advantage of this platform and opportunity to speak some specific truth into willing ears. You can listen to the introductory episode below or read what it is about, or go ahead and subscribe…

Bible Reading Plan for Week of December 30

As we transition into the new year, it is fitting that we are transitioning from the book of Deuteronomy to the book of Joshua.  The Israelites are transitioning from the wilderness to the Promised Land and the leadership transitions from Moses to Joshua.  God is sovereign through these transitions, and He is still sovereign today.   Allow Him to lead you this year and experience all that He has for you.  On Saturday and Sunday, we’ll focus on the Scriptures…

Lottie Moon Prayer Emphasis – Day 8

The world has more refugees today than ever before in recorded history. They’re on the move across dangerous seas. They’re trekking on foot over mountain ranges. They’re trying to create a life for themselves in a new country with nothing but the clothes on their back. And in the midst of their heartbreaking story, many refugees have walked right into the eternal hope that was waiting for them all along. To learn more about ministry to refugees and how you…

What’s God’s Will for My Life?

If you are like most people, you may be wondering what the will of God is for your life. What is your next step? Be assured that there is one person who wants you to know the will of God even more than you want to know it – and that is God Himself! He will not hide it from you, and He sincerely wants you to fulfill it. Read what God’s will is for your life in Ephesians 5:15-17.…

Lottie Moon Prayer Emphasis – Day 7

In Tanzania, there is a small hospital that often runs out of supplies.  Dr. Larry Pepper (whom we prayed for several weeks ago) is the doctor and leader of this hospital.  Every time the hospital runs out of something, churches have stepped up to cover the hospital’s needs, all the way from wheelchairs to building a new pediatric wing. To find out more about the hospital and how churches are helping, click on the link below.  It will take you…

Bible Reading Plan for Week of December 23

We are continuing to learn about the law through the book of Deuteronomy.  We have seen what God has done for Israel (chapters 1-4) and some of what God expects of Israel.  Our readings this week show us more of what God expects and they take us into a section of what God will do for Israel (chapters 27-34).  On Saturday and Sunday, we’ll focus on the Scriptures for our Gospel Groups and the Sunday sermon.  Please consider the questions…

Practical Ways to Disciple Teenagers

In the follow-up session of parenting matters, Ministry Intern Alex Gore gave practical ways for parents to disciple their children. In this session, he encouraged parents to model the SHEMA, found in Deuteronomy 6:4-9. He explained to parents that the most important thing for a person is to love the Lord with all of their heart, soul, and might. As a byproduct of parents modeling their love for God, the hope is that children would see it and do exactly…
