This week we will start a three week journey through First and Second Corinthians.  On his missionary journeys Paul had served in Corinth and shared the gospel in this prominent city of Greece.  He is now writing letters back to this body of believers to help them understand and display proper Christian conduct in the church.  The Corinthians had many issues and problems, and Paul wants to help them mature in Christ and develop in sanctification.  We can learn much…

Bible Reading Plan for Week of May 20

This week we will continue reading through the book of Hebrews to discover that Jesus is better than…  Therefore, we should live by faith in Him.  We should have much encouragement from being in Christ since He is the author and perfecter of our faith.  We should also take great comfort and gain encouragement from saints that lived by faith before us.  These truths should help us depend on Christ for everything we need.    On Saturday and Sunday, we’ll…

Bible Reading Plan for Week of May 13

This week we will start reading through the book of Hebrews.  The author encourages those who have stepped out of Judaism into Christianity to keep pursuing Christ.  Jesus is better than the Judaic system and anything else.  Basically, Jesus is much better than…  The believers should continue to mature in their faith and not revert back in order to escape persecution.  On Saturday we’ll prepare for our Gospel Groups and take a little break in the middle of Hebrews to…

Prepared For Battle

by Shawn Piedrahita (NGU Student) In Ephesians 6, Paul implores the Ephesian Christians to “put on the full armor of God so that you can stand against the tactics of the Devil” (6:11). Though spoken to the Ephesian church, Paul’s wisdom still applies to modern-day Christian as a call to arms against “the spiritual forces of evil” (6:12). The Belt of Truth: In John 14:6, Jesus states “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to…

Walking In The Spirit

A Post By Emily Phillips, NGU Student. What does it mean to walk by the Spirit? In Galatians 5, Paul talks about what it means to keep in step with the Spirit. Paul tells us how to live by the Spirit: reject the desires of the flesh and practice the fruits of the Spirit. Paul says is in verse 16: “But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh”. We are…

Bible Reading Plan for Week of May 6

This week we will read through the book of Ephesians.  Paul writes this epistle to the church and gives believers doctrinal and practical insights into the christian faith.  Chapters 1-3 talk about the position of the christian, and chapters 4-6 talk about the practices of the christian.  Gain a proper understanding of who you are “in Christ” and then live in the reality of this truth.  Remind yourself that being a christian means being called to the battle ground, not…

Help Needed at PWC Grove Road Center

PWC needs 2 – 3 people to help this Friday, May 4, during the day.  These volunteers will help cover up doors and windows with plywood.  You need to know how to operate a Skilsaw and a drill-screwdriver.  This work will drastically reduce the possibility of theft of equipment and resources that would cost the PWC construction project money.  If you would be willing to help, please contact David Williams (david@rockycreekonline.org) or 288-1323 by Wednesday evening so we can let…

Bible Reading Plan for Week of April 29

This week we will read through the book of Galatians.  Paul writes this epistle to the church to encourage believers to walk by faith.  Do not give up your “voyage of faith and chart a course based on works…Galatians is a vigorous attack against the gospel of works, and a defense of the gospel of faith.”  As you read, remind yourself of the gospel and how you should respond accordingly.  The law is not for us to try to perfectly…

Rocky Creek Collegiates Engaged in Missions

In a world where people often downplay the role of the millennials in our society, Rocky Creek is blessed to celebrate our millennials being on mission this summer. This year, we launched a new college initiative and gave the collegiates a place to both grow in their faith and to serve through the body of Christ. Rocky Creek provided “College Commit” as a way for students who are local during the school year to “commit” to Rocky Creek as their…

Bible Reading Plan for Week of April 22

This week we will continue reading the book of Romans.  Continue to read it prayerfully and ask God to change you.  May He transform us by the renewing of our minds (12:2).  Because of our position in Christ and what He has done, let us live appropriately.   May we live in a manner that is worthy of Christ and seek to magnify Him in all we do.  On Saturday and Sunday, we’ll focus on the Scriptures for our Gospel…

Why Preach Through Mark?

I am preparing to preach through the Gospel of Mark at our church.  As I prepared the series, it is going to take 1 year to preach through this Gospel.  While there are 4 Gospels in the New Testament (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John – same story but told from different perspectives), I have chosen to preach through this one for a few different reasons. Greatest Example – To become disciple-makers, we need to study the life of the original…

Bible Reading Plan for Week of April 15

This week we will begin reading the book of Romans.  “The book of Romans is considered by many as the ultimate hallmark of Paul’s letters to the churches, with some scholars suggesting that every major revival in church history has been preceded by the faithful preaching of it.”  Read prayerfully and ask God to revive you as you meditate on the truths of this book.  On Saturday and Sunday, we’ll focus on the Scriptures for our Gospel Groups and the…

Multiply Disciples

The Multiply Initiative is our simple yet aggressive plan to multiply disciples.  Our church is an established church with almost two centuries of discipleship work.  As we go forward during this time, we wanted to simplify our strategy as a church and clarify our expectations for our covenant members. PD 13 – Multiply Disciples The Great Commission Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the…
