Vision 2020 Mission Trips

One of the last things Jesus said on earth was to His disciples “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations…”  To help open up opportunities for our Rocky Creek Family to serve as disciple makers of all nations, we have put together these 8 short-term mission trips. Please take time to read over these opportunities and to prayerfully consider how you might be able to follow Christ’s command through one of them.  They are all listed in the Vision 2020…

Counseling Sessions

When life proves to be challenging, sometimes we require godly counsel. In this Equip course, we will look at some of the most frequent issues that lead to counseling and share some helpful perspectives. Think of these sessions as group counseling as we address some of the most rampant areas in which people struggle. Through seeking biblical wisdom, you will be able to either address your current situation or help someone else in need. We will begin on October 13th…

Malachi [Sermon Series Overview]

This Sunday, we begin our journey verse-by-verse through the Book of Malachi! Sometimes the spiritual apathy among God’s people is so tragic that He desires to close the doors to worship altogether. Offering nothing would be better than offering leftovers. Join us as we study verse-by-verse through the Book of Malachi and hear how God responds to those who tragically give Him the bare minimum. Here is the way will be broken down over the next 8 weeks: 10.13 –…

Category Examples for Distinctive Discipleship Plans

As we concluded our Distinctive Discipleship series this Sunday, it was incredible to watch people pick up their guides to begin the real work. Just a reminder, we want you to fill out one guide for yourself and one copy for accountability. Once you have your plan solidified, put that copy on your bookmark or somewhere where you will have regular access to using it. For the other copy, fill it out and put it in an envelope to bring…

New Online Giving And Text-to-Give

Rocky Creek is changing the way we do online giving for tax deductible donations!  In order to streamline our giving platform we are moving to Planning Center Giving.  Planning Center Giving will be the platform through which we account for charitable contributions (100% tax deductible gifts, not payments for events or studies).  Planning Center Registrations will still be used for camps, studies, and other events.  This move will allow us to match up our Giving with our People database, how…

Bible Study on the Book of Hosea

Bryce Staggs will be leading a six week study on Wednesday nights through the book of Hosea.  Come and discover the biblical truths that this prophet of God proclaimed to the Northern Kingdom (Israel), and are still applicable to us today.  God is loving, compassionate, and faithful.  Although Israel is rebellious and will incur judgment, God is merciful and will provide a way to a new future. The class will meet in room 331 from 6:30-7:30pm each week from November…

Janie Chapman Missions Offering – How Your Gift Helps #6

One way that our Rocky Creek Family can help participate in Missions is through the Janie Chapman Missions Offering. This special offering in September of every year helps to support mission work in and through South Carolina. There will be a number of web-posts about this offering and each one will try to share a different aspect of how the Janie Chapman Missions Offering is used.  As you read over these, consider how you could participate and give to this important offering.…

Distinctive Discipleship [Series Overview]

On August 18, we begin an 8-week sermon series called Distinctive Discipleship. This has been a 20-month process of prayer, study, and practice to help craft a plan for how we truly make disciples in our church and beyond. I cannot overstate this hope of mine: I do not plan on this being a sermon series we engage with for 2 months and then move on to something else. I believe that if we utilize these biblical principles, we can…

Deacons for 2019-2022

According to the Bible, deacons are to serve the people by helping to meet the physical needs of the body, and they are to support the pastors.  Deacons at Rocky Creek desire to be focused on service and ministry opportunities. Don Gregg, Rod Hochmuth, and Chuck Hunt desire to serve the body at Rocky Creek as deacons in 2019-2022 (3 year term).  They have been examined, and they have affirmed their understanding of the role of deacon and how they…

Ordination for Bryce Staggs

Since we have started our Entrust program, Rocky Creek has been blessed with some great pastoral residents and college interns. Bryce Staggs has served as a pastoral resident and has now completed our requirements for ordination. Bryce Staggs’ churchwide ordination will happen as a part of both English morning worship services on Sunday, July 21st. After continuing pastoral training and serving in different capacities, our pastoral staff served as an ordination council in which we sought to affirm what God…
